p r o m ☼
I'm pretty sure every girl has this amazing fantasy of going to prom. Mine, might differ a little but from all of yours (like everything else about everyone who is reading this. everyone is different!). I really want to go with a guy friend, not a boyfriend, although if I have a boyfriend in that time of my life (lolol) that'd be pretty cool too. I want to wear something timeless, elegant, and girly, and super natural makeup what won't make me look really greasy or shiny in photographs.
But enough about me. If you haven't already had your Prom, its coming close. While my prom post is probably a little to late to really sway your prom plans or ideas, hopefully my input will help you make this year perfect, or start planning for next year! (P.S. This is a super brief post on prom, and I don't even talk about the guys, so I apologize if you were looking for a Survival Guide for Prom or something. Disclaimer in the last paragraph!)
Lets start with the dress. One of my biggest pet peeves is when girls wear those shiny, skin tight, bedazzled prom dresses. One tip I have to avoid this? DON'T BUY A PROM DRESS FROM A PROM DRESS STORE! Buying from one of this is pretty much a guarantee that you will look a little tacky at prom. Here are some examples of prom dresses that I personally, (remember we all have opinions here!) would avoid. x x x A lot of girls avoid this by buying bridesmaids dresses, which is actually really smart. While the stereotype for a bridesmaids dress is that they are butt ugly, a lot of them are really pretty and perfect for Prom.
At an event like this, you want to stand out. One way that I like to think of doing this is to pretend like you're dressing for the red carpet, not a silly high school dance. Yes, it's a little extreme, but I think that we can all find a couture dress that we wouldn't mind wearing to prom. You're probably thinking: "I can't afford that!!" But the thing is, you can! Thanks to amazing websites like RentTheRunway , you can rent an incredible designer dress for as little as $50! If you are really into buying a dress for prom (which I don't understand, because you're probably never going to wear that dress again), look at the Prom based issues of Teen Vogue to get some classy and sassy inspiration for when you go shopping.
Now secondly to finding the right dress, you have to think practicality. Will I be able to dance in this dress? Will this dress rip if I walk a little too fast? You have to imagine real life situations so that you are not the victim of a Prom night disaster. Another thing that I'd take into consideration is your hair and makeup. Make sure that your hair and makeup won't fall off or die by the end of the night. Also, pick a look that you think will look good on camera. You don't want to go back and look at the prom pictures, and only then do you realize that maybe sparkly blue eyes shadow wasn't the best idea.
But when it all comes down to it, be yourself! Wear whatever makes you feel beautiful, and go with whomever makes you feel special. Prom is your night to shine, so don't let anyone tell you that you can't do what you want to do at prom! If you want to make it happen, make it happen. Whether you do it by getting a part time job, or doing extra chores around the house, your prom should be your prom! Make it so fab, and so you!!
Lastly, a little disclaimer. Yes, I am a freshman. Yes, I probably don't really know what I'm talking about. I might look back on this post when it comes time for me to go to prom and just laugh at how naive I was. Remember, don't let anything that I said above change what you wanted for prom. I'm an itty bitty freshman. You could probably squash me.
Have a fantastic prom!!
xo Camille

Prom Dress Near Me are expensive because people will pay for them - that’s fairly straightforward. Can’t skimp on the ‘Best Night of Your Life’™, right? Whether it is or no, there’s a lot of pressure to have a beautiful prom dress.
