mass nail polish post ☾

If I'm going to be completely honest, nail polish is probably one of the most useless inventions on earth. Having coated nails gives no health or major physical benefits, but I suppose it's just fun to have a pleasing color on our fingertips. Given it's impracticality, it can be really expensive to have a good nail polish collection, with the more moderately priced bottles costing around $8. I could spend a lifetime looking for the perfect nail polish, and I have yet to find one, but for now I thought that I'd help you all with your lifelong search for the best brand. Here are a couple of brands of nail polish that I have tried out, and that I thought I would give my input on (for you, of course).

Elf is a makeup brand that I have been familiar with for a very long time. They are known for their spectacularly low prices, not for the quality. This went for their nail polishes too. I bought at least 9 bottles of nail polish for the astonishing price of $9, that's $1 for each little bottle! I've overestimated Elf products before, and this is no exception. Even though the color was very opaque and rich (which is hard to find in the light color that I was using) it lasted for a day and a half without topcoat before chipping so badly that I had to remove it. Usually, even other inexpensive nail colors can last a little less than a week without topcoat before chipping too badly. I have had bad experiences with other Elf products in the past, so I honestly don't know what I was expecting. The prices of their products reflect the quality, which is really unfortunate given how little it cost. Elf, I'm disappointed in you.

Wet N Wild is my current drug store favorite for nail polish.  It costs a pleasing $1.99 (or $2.99, depending where you buy it) per bottle, and while it isn't Chanel quality, it works incredibly for the price. The color is really nice and thick, so you really only need 2 coats max. The only thing that reflects it's pricing is that sometimes it develops little air bubbles that disrupt the color. Even with that, the bubbles are so small you can really only notice them if you're looking closely. The color looks good for about a week and a half with top coat before it starts to chip too badly. My favorite color is the light blue!

Love & Beauty is the "Forever 21" brand of nail polish, meaning this is the only nail product they sell in their stores. I have come to expect clothing store nail polish to be kind of mediocre and watered down, but this nail polish completely blew that assumption out of the water. Priced at a fantastic $2.80 per bottle, the color is nice and thick and stays on for a little more than a week with top coat. On top of that, I am completely obsessed with the shade that I found it in. If you can't tell by the picture, the one I bought is a kind of purple-y blue, with looks really pretty when you apply 2 coats onto your nails. The only downside to this polish is that the quality obviously isn't fantastic, and you might need to touch up little chips in it during the week. Bravo, Forever 21!!
