behind the scenes of metropolis ☁

Owl City's latest music video, Metropolis, premiered a couple days ago, and I have a special reason why I'm probably way to excited about it. (If you haven't seen it, here is a link!) A couple of months ago, I got to do one of the coolest things I have ever done in my life: be part of the production of this video! Even better, the artist the music video was for someone I have a lot of respect for, even though I don't listen to his music very often. Owl City, or Adam Young, is Minnesota born and raised, so of course he decided to film his music video for Metropolis in Minnesota!
this is from the library scene. i wasn't in it but i had a lot of fun watching them set up and stuff.
I have this crazy dream of doing something related to film, whether it be acting, directing, editing, scouting or doing whatever a good film needs. Being able to spend time on a real set and experience how actors and producers spend their days was an incredible experience. Even though I knew I wouldn't get to meet Adam, I was totally psyched to see behind the scenes action for a huge production like this.
the camera guy while filming outside. he was so sassy omg
i don't know if you can see, but the guy with the light blue shirt and the dark blue sleeves on the second step up was the directior, daniel cummings. he is super talented and an awesome dude!
The video was filmed at one of the most prestigious private schools in the state, Blake High School. It has a beautiful campus, so props the the location scouts for picking a great school to shoot at. At first, I was only there to stand around and watch the director do his "thang", but then my sister and I were asked to be extras in a couple of the scenes. (You can see Chloe,my sister, in the classroom scene. She is the girl with the super curly hair sitting right in front of the lead guy. Fun Fact: They actually had to clean the back of her sweater really thoroughly because it had dog hair all over it, and that would distract the viewer from paying attention to the real action.)  While there were a ton of other extras, I was still pumped about the whole dealio.
this is from the one scene in front of the school at the beginning. we were literally right in front of the camera. watch the video and see if you can spot us!
Overall, the experience was fantastic! I made really great friends with one of the girls (she was the girl with the super girly blonde hair who was buddies with the lead), and getting to know the others was so much fun. The director said he would call again if he needed anyone to help out with a shoot he would call me and my sisters, which is so fab! Even remembering the whole shoot is putting me in a really good mood.
I hope you guys liked the video!
Stay groovy,
xo Camille
(P.S.  I'm going to be out of town for the next week, so I won't have any posts. Just a heads up letting y'all know! <3)
